PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for managing the operation of the mobile terminal of a communication network according to the geographical position of the mobile terminal, and for automatically starting the operation characteristics of the terminal specific to a fixed zone, when the terminal accesses the zone. SOLUTION: The position of a terminal is decided at all times, based on position data decided according to at least one base station during the operation. This method is obtained as a type for deciding at least two different geographical zones and at least one operation characteristics of a terminal specific to each zone. Each zone is decided, based on position data decided according to the group of at least one base station included in the zone. The position data of the zone and the operation characteristics specific to the zone are recorded in the memory of the terminal. The position data of a mobile terminal 22 are compared with the position data of the zone, so that at which zone the terminal is positioned can be inferred. When the terminal enters the zone, the operation characteristics specific to the zone are applied.
