SOLUTION: In a spindle motor comprising a shaft 3 and a sleeve 2 facing with the shaft 3 by way of a fluid bearing clearance Cr of a radial fluid bearing R, a surface roughness Rpm of at least one of the outer periphery 3f of the shaft 3 and the internal circumference 2f of the sleeve is selected as 15% or smaller of the fluid bearing clearance Cr.
