PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure fuel supply pump dispensing with heat treatment and improving productivity. SOLUTION: A pressurizing chamber 116 communicates with a fuel suction passage 112 and a delivery passage 114. A plunger 120 forcibly sends fuel in the pressurizing chamber 116 to the delivery passage 114. A suction valve 130 is arranged in the suction passage 112, and a delivery valve is arranged in the delivery passage 114. A solenoid 150 operates an engaging member 152, and opens the suction valve 130. An engaging part of the engaging member 152 for engaging with the suction valve 130 is formed in a plane shape.
