<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective cover for a polymer insulator, which is easily fixed to the trunk part of the insulator at a fixing position that can be chosen arbitrarily, a spacer for an electric wire which spacer comprises the protective cover for a polymer insulator, and a midair branching structure of electric wires which wires comprise the spacers for electric wires. SOLUTION: A cylinder-shaped protective cover 3, which covers the trunk part 11 of a polymer insulator leaving a prescribed space away from the surface of the insulator, is made of a gum, elastic at ordinary temperatures, having an elongation of 300-1000%. When such a protective cover 3 is used, the opening part of the cover can be expanded so widely that the cover is easily crimped and fixed at an arbitrary position on the trunk part 11, and hence, for example, an existing polymer insulator 2 provided with such a cover can be used as an anti-pollution type insulator, without need for preparing a polymer insulator as a special-purpose anti-pollution insulator.</p> |
