PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door braking device capable of easily and stably braking a sliding door when applying the brake to prevent the abrupt closing and opening of the sliding door. SOLUTION: This braking device comprises a rotation body enclosed in a braking device body 7 mounted to the sliding door 1 side; a viscous fluid filled in the braking device body 7 to surround the rotation body; gears 14, 15 fitted to a shaft projecting from the braking device body 7, and rotated around a vertical axis integrally with the rotation body; long-sized racks 18, 19 fitted to the building side so that the gears 14, 15 are mashed with them near the closing start position and opening start position of the sliding door 1; and gear adjusting parts 20, 21 mounted to one end side of the racks 18, 19. The gears 14, 15 are integrally provided with cam parts 14a, 15a of square cross section, and the gear adjusting parts 20, 21 are formed of elastic synthetic resin of rubber or the like to allow the cam parts 14a, 15a to abut on them.
