PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a computer to control a plurality of terminals which have its proprietary protocols with a single protocol information. SOLUTION: A system comprises a host computer, capable of communicating with a prescribed protocol, and a plurality of terminals capable of communicating with its proprietary protocols different from each other. The system has a storage means 604 for storing a plurality of protocol conversion data for converting between the prescribed protocol information and each proprietary protocol information for performing the conversion with the use of the protocol conversion data, corresponding to the proprietary protocol of the connected terminal from among a plurality of protocol conversion data stored in the storage means.
