PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp which enables making use of advantages of a rare-gas low-pressure discharge lamp generating a certain spectral range of UV light, as well as a method of manufacturing such a lamp, suitable, especially, for beauty purpose and medical treatment purpose. SOLUTION: The rare-gas low-pressure discharge lamp generating ultraviolet light for beauty or medical treatment purpose has a discharge vessel, which is filled with rare gas, transparent at least partially in UV light, and is coated at least partially with phosphor emitting UV light excited by excitation radiation generated in the discharge vessel so as to utilize a certain spectral range.
