PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely record images by detecting whether or not an optical disk medium is in a recordable state at the time of setting a timer reservation in an image recorder using optical disk. SOLUTION: The optical disk recording device judges whether or not the optical disk medium is in a recordable state by a means for discriminating whether or not the medium is used for recording based on the reproduced signal level of the disk for recording in the case of setting the timer reservation and a means for detecting the loaded state of the disk by a focus control signal and a spindle motor rotation signal. When the device judges the state as unrecordable, the device ejects the disk, visually displays the state on a display device, and gives an audible alarm using a buzzer or the like.
