PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device that reduces the number of illumination light sources and its output and thereby reduces consumption of electric power related to lighting by raising the ratio of the amount of illumination light illuminating an article such as a commodity and a sample of a commodity to the total amount of light from the illumination light source. SOLUTION: This lighting device reflects the light radiated from the illumination light source 10 toward transmission diffracting optical elements 41-50 by illumination light guide 11 and raises efficiency of lighting by deflecting the illumination light, which is emitted from the illumination light source 10, and the illumination which is emitted from the illumination light source 10 and then reflected by the illumination light guide 11, in a given direction by the transmission diffracting optical elements 41-50.
