PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Si photoreceptor and a device for image formation which prevent deposition of toner during cleaning and which realize good image formation. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor has a photoconductive layer 102 containing a-Si formed on a conductive substrate 101 having <9 nm surface roughness Ra, preferably <6 nm in a 10μm×10μm area. In the cumulative frequencies of height from the deepest point in the surface roughness as the referential in a 10μm×10μm area of the photoconductive layer 102, the difference in height between at 90% and at 50% cumulative values ranges 35 to 200 nm, preferably 45 to 180 nm.
