PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a foam-coated electric wire in which the strength of the coating foamed synthetic resin itself is not decreased, without using any chemical blowing agent, even though the foam percentage becomes larger than 10%. SOLUTION: Coating is made on a conductor with melted synthetic resin pressurized with carbon dioxide gas or nitrogen gas over the gas critical pressure, and then a foamed synthetic resin layer is formed on the conductor by reducing the pressure to the atmospheric pressure.
