PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly reproduce and record an audio signal according to plural different encoding systems. SOLUTION: When reproducing or recording an audio signal encoded for example in accordance with a PCM system, a CPU 16 installed on a decoding device 2 discriminates whether or not the encoding system of the audio signal reproduced by a disk reproducing device 1 is the PCM system. When the CPU 16 discriminates that the encoding system is not the PCM system, it switches an operation of a digital I/F 17 and inputs the digital audio signal transmitted from the disk reproducing device 1 to a decoding processing part 18. In this case, a CPU 22 installed on an MD recorder 3 is notified of a new encoding system from the CPU 16, and controls an MD recording processing part 23 to delete an audio track being currently recorded. Moreover, a CPU 11 installed on a disk reproducing device 1 the disk reproducing device 1 skips to the head of the audio track being currently reproduced. Thus, synchronizing recording is started.
