PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auger type ice making machine capable of producing chip ice surely by crushing scraped ice, pushed up in a cylindrical shape, even under a hard condition to produce the chip ice. SOLUTION: A plurality of triangular projected pieces 11, provided on the inner periphery of a cooling cylinder 3 with a substantially equal space along the inner periphery of the same, are abutted against the scraped ice, pushed up in the shape of a cylinder, and invade into the same. The projected pieces 11 are provided with a triangular shape and the degree of projection is increased gradually in the direction of height of the cooling cylinder 3 whereby the scraped ice is crashed into flake type ice having irregular shapes and are turned into the radial direction of the cooling cylinder 3. A resistance as well as a passing resistance when the crushed scraped ice is forced into an ice compressing passage 17 are increased remarkably whereby the degree of compression in the ice compressing passage 17 is increased and the chip ice can be produced surely even under a condition that the scraped ice pushed upwards in a tubular state is passed while being compressed insufficiently in the ice compressing passage 17 whereby the ice is not solidified and the chip ice can not be produced.
