PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a pointer moved within a range less than a prescribed rota tion in any position of a spindle. SOLUTION: This dial gage is provided with a spring 10 for energizing one end side of the spindle 3 from a case main body 2 toward the protruding direction, the pointer 32 supported by the case main body 2, a motion converting mechanism 110 for converting an axial-directional displacement of the spindle 3 into a rotational motion, a motion transmission connecting and disconnecting mechanism 120 provided in a midway of the converting mechanism 110 to connect and disconnect transmission of the displacement motion, a spiral spring 33 for energizing the connecting and disconnecting mechanism 120 to the engaging direction at all the times, a motion transmission blocking mechanism 130 provided to participate in the converting mechanism 110 to block the transmission, to the pointer side, of the displacement motion in the spindle 3 by separating the connecting and disconnecting mechanism 110 against the spiral spring 33 when the spindle 3 is displaced over the prescribed amount, and a regulation means 140 for regulating a connection and disconnection position of the mechanism 120 with respect to the displaced position of the spindle 3.
