PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for preventing excess torque capable of avoiding excess torque application. SOLUTION: The mechanism for preventing excess torque is installed between a torque applying device 1 and a specimen 3. Since a friction disc at the specimen side 9 is held between a shaft on an applying side 2(a) and a friction disc at applying side 5, the specimen 3 will not applied by a thrust force. A torque- adjusting screw 6 is screw-coupled with the shaft at applying side 2(a) and rotation enables shaft at applying side 2(a) and the friction disc at applying plate 5, to change holding force of the friction disc at the specimen 9 via a pressure disc 7 and a coned disc spring 8.
