PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevating device capable of increasing the force of pulling out an excavating device without increasing a burden on a rack caused by load. SOLUTION: This elevating device 1 has a rack 10 provided along the axial direction of a leader 4 erected at the front part of a.base machine 2, and a rack elevator 14 elevated along the rack 10 by rotationally driving a pinion 16 meshed with the rack 10. The elevating device 1 further has fixed blocks 30 provided at the uppermost part of the leader 4; an auxiliary elevator 22 provided above the rack elevator 14 and provided with a running block 23 suspended from the fixed block 30 by a wire rope 26; a winch 24 for elevatingly driving the auxiliary elevator 22 through the wire rope 26; and a connecting device 21 for detachably connecting the rack elevator 14 and the auxiliary elevator 22 to each other.
