PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining excellent in discharge machinability to a hardly machinable material such as graphite and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: This electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining contains, by weight, 0.01 to 2.40% Sn and 0.01 to 2.40% In, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities. In the method for producing the electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining, a billet is cast and formed by using an alloy molten metal containing 0.01 to 2.40% Sn and 0.01 to 2.40% In, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities, thereafter, this billet is subjected to hot extrusion working to form a bus bar, and this bus bar is subjected to heat treatment and wire drawing so as to have a disired wire diameter.
