The invention relates to an injection unit for a plastic injection molding machine, comprising an endless screw which can be driven via a drive mechanism in a rotating manner for plastification of the material to be injected, and an electric motor that includes an element that is stationarily mounted on the frame and an output element that can be displaced linearly with respect thereto and via which the endless screw is axially displaced for injection of the plastic into a mold. In known injection units the output element of the electric motor is disposed in the power train between the drive element and the endless screw, and the power that can be output by the electric motor via the output element is limited. The aim of the invention is therefore to improve the known injection units in such a manner that only a relatively small electric motor is required for injecting the plastic material with the desired injection pressure into the mold and for producing the desired dwell pressure. To this end, the drive element is disposed in the power train between the electric motor and the endless screw and introduces into the drive element upstream of the electric motor, when viewed from the endless screw, a torque for rotating the endless screw, and a power transmission device is mounted between the output element of the electric motor and the drive element. |
