The device for the locking of a forward folding seat section (2) of a vehicle's rear seat has a bolt fastened to the body of the vehicle and with an undercut section close to its free end, and which fits in a hole in the seat section. In the locked position of the seat section the legs of a spring engage in the undercut section of the bolt. For unlocking, the legs of the spring are spread by a spreading element (4) to provide release of the bolt. The spring may be immovably fixed on the seat section, and the spreading element movably mounted on the seat section, or vice versa.
