A substrate is coated with a solution or dispersion with a low proportion of an organic compound to a wet layer thickness and a thin organic layer adhering to the substrate with semiconducting properties is produced by means of drying, whereby the dry layer thickness, by comparison with the wet layer thickness is significantly thinner, in particular by an order of magnitude or more.
