<p>A short-arc high-pressure discharge lamp in which input power is increased in order to increase the quantity of light radiated and the temperature of the electrode is lowered efficiently by improving the heat radiation characteristics of the electrode. The short-arc high-pressure discharge lamp (10) is characterized in that the lamp is provided, in an arc tube (11), with a set of electrodes (20, 30) having a groove (24) made at least in a part of the side face thereof and that the depth D of the groove (24) is within 12% of the diameter of the electrode and a relation W/P ≥ 2 between the depth D and the pitch P of the groove (24) is satisfied.</p> |
