The invention concerns digital protection for a high voltage power grid, designed to control the opening of circuit-breakers (13, 14, 15) in case of faults detected by current and/or voltage sensors on the distribution lines (10, 11, 12) connected to the circuit-breakers, comprising a data transmission link with an infrared portable telephone (16, 18). The transmission uses the wireless application protocol (WAP).
