The effective area 4b of the phosphor layer 4 which is formed on an inner surface of a panel and has an approximately rectangular shape is formed in a pincushion shape. At end portions in a diagonal axis D direction of this pincushion-shaped phosphor layer 4b, corner-portion peripheries 4C having a curvature R which are formed in a convex shape outwardly from the effective region 4b are formed in corner regions which connect long-side peripheries sandwiching an X axis and short-side peripheries sandwiching a Y axis.
