<p>A voice-activated control device (1) for a construction machine comprises speech recognition means (1a) for recognizing voice commands indicative of operations of a machine (80), machine control means (1e) for controlling the machine operation based on the result of recognition by the speech recognition means (1a), detector means (1b) for detecting objects which may obstruct the machine operation, and escape means (1c) for avoiding undesirable operations of the machine (80), the escape means adapted to override the machine operation instructed with a voice command and controlled by the machine control means (1e) if the detector means (1b) detects an obstacle beside the machine outside. The construction machine (80) can be properly operated with the voice of an operator, without input devices such as a joystick, a pedal and a switch.</p> |
