In the present invention, there is disclosed a process for preparing fertilizers form aluminium-containing substances wherein the invented process is characterized in that compounds containing aluminium in the form of cations are treated either alone or in a mixture with matters, such as fertilizers or raw materials used during manufacture of fertilizers, with hydroxyl ions at a temperature ranging from 10 to 200 degC and for a period of about 5 minutes to 8 hours, whereby the concentration of the hydroxyl ions is such as to achieve the reaction mixture resulting pH within the range of 4 to 10. The formed mass is then further treated either alone or after addition of other substances by drying, grinding or shaping.
