<p>A method and an apparatus for bell-shaping the ends of pipes (37) made of plastic or layered material by the use of an auxiliary shaping bush (22), of deformable plastic material, and an expanding tool (19). The shaping bush (22) comprises a tubular body (22) axially extending from a fore end to a resting flange (33) at the rear end; the tubular body (22) of the shaping bush (22) is provided with a cylindrical outer surface (32) and a conical or cylindrical inner surface (34, 35) extending from the fore to the rear end. The shaping bush (22) is fitted onto an expanding tool (19) having a shaped head (20) of larger diameter than the inner surface (34) of the bush (22) and fitted into a pipe end which can thus be shaped in the form of a bell by progressively expanding the tubular body (22A) of the bush (22) against the inner surface of the pipe (37), by drawing and forcing the head (20) of the expanding tool (19) to axially slide inside the bush (22) to radially expand the same and the pipe end (37). <IMAGE></p> |
