PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optically activeα-hydroxy-β- aminocarboxylic acid derivative. SOLUTION: The compound (3), the compound (1) and the compound (2) represented by the following formulas (wherein R1 is an aralkyl or the like; X1, X2 and X3 are each a halogen atom; and P1 and P2 are each independently hydrogen or a protective group of amino group) are efficiently produced by successively carrying out halogenation, reduction and hydrolysis of the compound (4).
