PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a built-up golf club face which imparts increased structural integrity to a given weight and size. SOLUTION: This golf club face 10 consists of a ball striking surface 12 and a rear surface 14 on the side opposite to this ball striking surface 12. The rear surface 14 builds up to give the face 10 with a plurality of thicknesses and the face 10 has a first region having a first thickness and a second region having a second thickness smaller than the first thickness. As a result, the face has nearly uniform stress when the impact load of a ball acts thereon. More specifically, the built-up golf club face 10 consists of a perpendicularly reinforcing region 16, a decreased horizontally reinforcing region 18, four analogous built-up quadrants 20a-d made gradually thinner toward the center and a face/sole intersecting region 38 and face/crown intersecting region 40 of increased thicknesses. The thicknesses of the adjacent regions are gradually fused to impart the smoothly built-up surface.
|
