PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly pure polyhydroxybenzophenone in high yield without using complicated manufacturing operations and without generating harmful waste difficult to treat, and enable to remarkably reduce the cost. SOLUTION: In a method for producing a polyhydroxybenzophenone expressed by the general formula (3) by reacting a benzoic acid expressed by the general formula (1) with a phenol expressed by the general formula (2) in the presence of an acid catalyst and continuously removing water generated by the reaction, the generated product is continuously crystallized and taken out of the reaction system.
