PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a simpler method for producing a thioether compound having a wide range of application. SOLUTION: This method for producing a thioether compound is characterized by coupling a halogen atom- or pseudo-halogen group-substituted heterocyclic compound with a compound capable of generating an alkylmercaptan, an arylmercaptan, heterylmercaptan, their metal salts or their sulfide anions in a system in the presence of a transition metal.
