PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saw edge capable of preventing a cutting edge from being separated from a fixing part, and a method for surely forming such the saw edge at a low cost. SOLUTION: The saw edge (10) is integrally formed from a hardenable steel sheet by having a flat cutting edge (12) and the bent fixing part (14) plastically projected from the cutting edge (12) which is equipped with a central fixing opening part (16). Therefore, a material piece is separated from the hardenable steel sheet, the material piece is then deep drawn in order to form the bent fixing part (14), or deformed by another method, and the fixing opening part (16) is preferably formed by punching. Then, many raw material pieces of such the kind are mutually superimposed, pinched in an apparatus, recrystallized thereafter, austenitized, quenched thereafter and slowly cooled for tempering. Lastly, gear cutting is formed by polishing at an outside edge of the saw edge (10).
