PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly move a movable surface plate while maintaining the parallelism between a fixed surface plate and the movable surface plate of a press. SOLUTION: The press bas the fixed surface plate 4 and the movable surface plate 3. Rolling devices 15A-15D having a plurality of rollers 25 are fitted to the movable surface plate 3. Press guides 10A-10D extending in the perpendicular direction are fitted to a press frame 1, and the movable surface plate 3 is vertically moved while being guided by rolling the rollers 25 in a contact manner with guide surfaces 10Aa to 10Da. No play or stick slip or grease shortage on a guide surface is present, and thus, the movable surface plate 3 can be moved smoothly at a small coefficient of rolling friction without tilting the movable surface plate 3.
