PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the scattering of a material to be sorted to the outside in a sorting apparatus for automatically controlling the treatment capacity of a shaking sorting part to a set control range. SOLUTION: In a threshing machine 1 equipped with a chaff sieve 20 for sorting a successively supplied material to be sorted, a winnowing fan 10 for winnowing the material to be sorted leaked from the chaff sieve 20 and a dust discharge fan 13 for discharging impurities contained in the material to be sorted to the outside, the treatment state the chaff sieve 20 is detected by a wind quantity sensor 24 and a fin opening degree of the chaff sieve 20 is automatically controlled so that the detection value of the sensor holds a reference value range and the fin opening degree control range is set corresponding to a treatment condition. In this case, the possibility of the scattering of the material to be sorted to the outside due to the insufficiency of the fin opening degree of the chaff sieve 20 is judged and, when the possibility of the scattering to the outside is judged, the fin opening degree is increased so as to exceed the set fin opening degree control range.
