PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production apparatus for metallic strip with which the supplying speed for molten metal from a nozzle can be kept constant, and a production method for metallic strip having uniform thickness and width, when the metallic strip is produced by supplying and rapidly cooling the molten metal onto a cooling roll surface from a nozzle in a tundish. SOLUTION: A melting and casting chamber 1 in the production apparatus for metallic strip, is demarcated with a melting chamber 3 provided with a tundish 31 and a cooling and solidifying chamber 4 arranging the cooling roll 41 with a partition wall 2, and both chambers are communicated with the nozzle 32 in the tundish 31. In the case of using Ph for head of the molten metal 30 in the tundish 31, Pm for pressure in the melting chamber 3 and Pc for constant pressure of the cooling and solidifying chamber 4, under condition of satisfying two formulas of Ph+Pm=Pk (prescribed value) and Ph+Pm>Pc, the molten metal 30 is supplied onto the cooling roll 41 from the nozzle 32 and rapidly cooled to form a soft magnetic alloy strip.
