PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil identification code recognizing system capable of confirming a coil identification code without depending on the visual confirmation in handling a coil to prevent erroneous recognition of the coil identification code caused by the visual confirmation. SOLUTION: In a coil handling device 3, the identification code attached to the coil 2 held by a holding mechanism 8 is picked up by an image pick-up device 11, and the coil identification code corresponding to an image signal sent from the image pick-up device 11 is recognized by the image processing. The identification code of the coil to be handled by the coil handling device 20 is stored, whether the recognized identification code and the stored identification code agree with each other or not is determined, and the warning is generated to an operator of the coil handling device 3 when both identification codes do not agree with each other.
