INK JET PRINTER AND RECORDING SHEET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet printer which can use a roll recording sheet on which a splice part is formed. SOLUTION: A mark 23 indicative of a splice part 22 is recorded at the splice part 22 of a recording sheet 20. A splice sensor 28 is disposed on the upstream side of an ink jet printer 10. When the splice mark 23 is detected, a thermal head 29 and an ink jet head 30 are set at a retreating position. The recording sheet 20 is carried until the splice part 22 is moved to the downstream side of the ink jet head 30. Upon finishing carriage of the recording sheet 20, the thermal head 29 and the ink jet head 30 are set at a recording position and recording of image is started. The splice part 22 is cut at a cutter section 14 along with each image boundary part and then discarded.
