PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a widening device for a caterpillar shoe capable of quickly and easily attaching to/detaching from an existing construction machine. SOLUTION: This widening device 10 is used by mounting on many existing shoes 12 forming a caterpillar 11 of the construction machine, and comprises a widening plate 14 abutting against a front side of the existing shoe 12 and matching an inside part 19 orthogonal to a running direction of the construction machine with a position of an inside end 21 of the existing shoe 12, having an outside part 20 protruded outward from an outside end 22 of the existing shoe 12; a locking metal fitting 15 mounted on an inside end part of the widening plate 14 for engaging with an inside end part of the existing shoe 12; and a fitting 16 for connecting an outside end part of the existing shoe 12 with a middle part of the widening plate 14, to increase a bearing area of the caterpillar 11.
