PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder which can output a good image regardless of the size of an ink tank mounted on a carriage. SOLUTION: A time table of a carriage motor (stepping motor) 16 being set depending on the combination of ink tanks to be mounted on a carriage and can suppress vibration of the carriage when the carriage mounting the ink tank moves in a print area is stored in an ROM 33. An optical sensor 23 detects the size of each ink tank mounted on the carriage. Based on the detection results from the optical sensor 23, a control section 34 reads out a time table corresponding to the combination of ink tanks mounted on the carriage from the ROM 33 and drives the stepping motor 16 based on the read out time table thus controlling the operation of the carriage. |
