PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the transfer of a reaction-type hot melt adhesive to a text by means of a first roller and a second roller without causing the overflow of the adhesive from a tank and also its loss, in a non-line stitch bookbinding process. SOLUTION: The tank 1 for storing the reaction-type hot melt adhesive is partitioned into a tank part 19a on the first roller 5 side and a tank part 19b on the second roller 6 side. In addition, fixed doctors 21 and 22 are mounted at the rotary rear part of each of the rollers 5 and 6 and thus the amount of the adhesive which deposits on each of the rollers 5 and 6 is adjusted. Further, the upper surface of each of the tank parts 19a and 19b on the rotary rear part side is blocked by the fixed doctors 21 and 22. Movable doctors 11 and 12 mounted corresponding to the first roller 5 and the second roller 6 are activated so as to set the adhesive which deposits on the roller surface to an appropriate transfer length and also are activated so that the residual adhesive is returned to each of the tank parts 19a and 19b in such a state that the adhesive is left sticking to the rollers 5 and 6.
