PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of the quality of an image formed on a recording medium. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a belt conveyor 2 for carrying a recording medium P fed from a recording medium feeding section 3, means 1 for supplying ink to the recording medium P in order to form an image, and a cleaning mechanism 5. The cleaning mechanism 5 comprises a first rotator 53 for supporting a roll web 55, a second rotator 51 for winding the web 55, means 52 for pressing the web, and a control means 56 for feeding a specified length of the web 55 every time when an arbitrary cleaning time elapses and winding the web around the first and second rotators 53 and 51. The control means 56 is arranged to stop supply of the recording medium P to the recording medium feeding section 3 upon elapsing the arbitrary cleaning time and to start the feeding/winding operation of the first and second rotators 53 and 51 upon finishing supply of ink, supplied before stoppage of ink supply, to the recording medium P. |
