PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a solution which comprises a silicon oil, an alkyl polymethacrylate(PMAE), methanol, has an enhanced water resistance, overcomes the insufficiency in water resistance of an object (leather or a textile product) treated with a conventional clear mixture solution prepared from a silicon oil, PMAE, and methanol, and exhibits greatly improved water repellency and water resistance. SOLUTION: Formamide, which is a strong bipolar charged matter and exhibits a high performance as a molecule, is added to a conventional solution of a silicon oil, PMAE, and methanol. The solution is then applied to an object dried, and heated at least at 90 deg.C for 30 min or irradiated with a high-frequency wave for a short time, giving an object having desired water repellency and water resistance. This solution is expected to be useful, e.g. for packing of city water pipelines or for O-rings for drive shafts.
