PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide article storage equipment capable of reducing a burden on workers by automatically operating a load handling device when the equipment causes a trouble. SOLUTION: This article storage equipment comprises a load handling decide E2 disposed at an access port E, transferring an article F with a stacker crane C, and moving the article F to the storage and retrieval position for articles, a crane controller E1 for controlling the carriage of the article F by the stacker crane C, and a load handling controller for controlling the movement of the article F by the device E2. The crane controller E1 is so formed as to control the device E2 through the load handling controller when the equipment causes a trouble. With this configuration, the device E2 can be operated automatically when the equipment causes a trouble in the same manner as in the normal state of the equipment, a troublesome manual operation and maloperation can be eliminated, and the burden on the workers can be reduced.
