PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a towing device which performs towing operation in safe. SOLUTION: A towing device comprises a towing winch 3 mounted in a towing ship 1 and a towing rope 2 to be wound by the towing winch 3. A weal link 6 is joined to the vicinity of an end of the towline, and the weak link 6 comprises a first link 14 and a second link 16 respectively connected to the towing rope 2, and a fastener member 15 for fastening the first link 14 and the second link 16 to each other. On at least one of the first link 14 and the second link 16, there is formed a groove portion 16d extending approximately in parallel with a tensile direction of the towing rope 2. When a tensile force larger than a given value is produced in the towing rope 2, it is broken from a section of the groove portion.
