PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal, capable of limiting reception by distinguishing the type of attached data. SOLUTION: The portable information terminal is provided with a communication function part 1 for receiving www information, to which data can be attached; a key input part 2 for setting whether each of various attached data are to be received; a user information storage part 31 for storing the attached data reception propriety information set by the key input part 2; and a file analysis means for analyzing the www information received by the communication function part 1, judging whether attached data are contained in the www information; and when there are attached data, requesting the communication function part 1 to receive the attached data. The communication function part 1 judges whether the attached data is received, on the basis of attached data type information included in the header part of the attached data and the reception propriety information stored in the storage part 31.
