PURPOSE: A hand language interpreter using the optical sensor and the bending sensor is provided to represent a hand language action as a character or voice through an electronic device by digitizing the place, direction, and shape of fingers of the deaf and dumb. CONSTITUTION: The deaf puts a pair of gloves(4) and necklace(9) for the hand language on both hands and a neck, respectively. When the deaf represents a thought as the hand language action, the bending of the five fingers is perceived by an electromagnetic board(3) through the bending sensor(1), digitized and modulated by an arithmetic section, and transferred to the necklace for the hand language through infrared-LED(Light Emitting Diode)(5a,6a,5b,6b). The necklace for the hand language checks the place of both hands through the place of a light-receiving sensor(12), decides the kind and direction of both hands, calculates the change value of the bending sensor gained by demodulating a signal, finds a sentence corresponding to the calculated data from a ROM, and outputs the sentence as a voice. |
