PURPOSE: A gift certificate issuing method and system is provided to enable a user to select one among various types of gift certificates at an automatic ticket issuing apparatus like a cash dispenser and pay for the selected gift certificate with cash, a debit card or a credit card. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a ticket issuing terminal(100), a transaction intermediate system(300), a ticket issuing organization(400), a certification authority(500), a network(600), and a banking organization(700). The ticket issuing terminal(100) includes a display(110), a data input module(120), a card insertion slot(130), a cash input module(140), a ticket printing module(150), a card reader(160), and a communication module(170). The data input module(120) enables a user to select the kind of the gift certificate. The communication module(170) transmits the selected ticket, the payment data and other data to the transaction intermediate system(300). The transaction intermediate system(300) includes a server(310) and a database(320). The server(310) includes an operation server(311), a terminal control server(312), an intermediate server(313), a calculation server(314) and a communication management server(315). The ticket issuing organization(400), connected to the transaction intermediate system(300), approves the ticket issuing. The certification authority(500), also connected to the transaction intermediate system(300), authenticates the credit card inserted into the terminal.
