PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval system capable of saving labor to register new information after retrieving the existing information and at the same time, evading duplication and contradiction of information in a data base by a user. SOLUTION: The information retrieval system is characterized by having an input means 10 to input information to be registered or a part of it, a retrieving means 13 to retrieve the existing information in relation to the information to be registered inputted by the input means 10, an output means 11 to present the existing information retrieved by the retrieving means 13 and a selecting means to select at least one operation from among new registration of the information in an information data base, interruption of registration, addition/ correction to the existing information and deletion of the existing information.
