PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk reproducer and a disk reproduction method by which data are easily retrieved at a high speed when the disk is reproduced and also a reproduction speed desired by a user is programmably set and a recording medium. SOLUTION: The rotary speed of the disk 8 is detected by a pickup 2 and a synchronism detector 9, a reference signal 46 is generated by a voltage- controlled oscillator(VCO) 10 and, then, the reference signal 46 is frequency- divided by a prescribed frequency dividing ratio through the use of a frequency divider 11. Then a control part 5 sets the frequency dividing ratio of the frequency divider 11, a phase comparator 12 compares the output signal of the synchronism detector 9 with the output signal of the frequency divider 11 concerning phase so as to output a phase difference signal 52 and, moreover, a spindle motor 1 is driven at the rotary speed corresponding to the phase difference signal 52 by a drive circuit 4.
