PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem conventionally that inability to perform exact recording operation gives large influence to the detection of a prepit by the large power output of a laser for the writing at recording. SOLUTION: In an optical disk, the recording operation is performed by inserting the margin bit MB into a recording information signal, as shown in (B). Furthermore, the inserting position of this margin bit MB into the information signal is arranged so as to come to the position of the prepit (reproduction prepit is shown in (A)) of adjacent groove parts and also the bit pattern of the margin bit MB is set to be the value, as shown in (C) ('0' in this case) so as that erasure period TE of a write pulse for writing become as shown in (D). By this arrangement, the influence given by the write pulse to the read- out of the prepit information at recording operation is reduced.
