PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery, having less deterioration due to repetitive charge/discharge and high charge/ discharge capacity and high energy density. SOLUTION: The negative electrode material for the lithium secondary battery contains a tin oxide having meso-pores of uniform diameter and shape. With the arrangement of the meso-pores, the specific surface area is larger and lithium ions are smoothly stored and released. With the diameter of the pores being smaller and having narrow and uniform distribution, the tin oxide can be filled in the negative electrode with a high density. With the pores being regularly arranged and uniformly shaped, the thickness of a tin oxide layer is controlled to be constant and the uniform and easy diffusion of lithium in the tin oxide layer is ensured. |
